Comment: Could it be that the Boos are also mentioned because parts of ‘Blowin Cool’ are almost lifted straight from a Boo Radleys song (cant think what it is called,of Lazarus EP I think)…also Ut are thanked, and I think the down down to the marketplace bit of Duel is a reference to an Ut song

Comment: This is just a note for those in the US to try to see the new version of the band FAILURE, if you will. The band is “Year of the Rabbit”, and is Ken Andrews, kicking out great tunes once again in a band format. They are playing some dates in May(Mercury Lounge 5/14), so take a look, and then check out the CD when it comes out. It’s sure to be great stuff! http://www.yearoftherabbit.net/ Cheers, Danno

Comment: Nice quote from www.creation-records.com: Martin Carr (guitarist of Boo Radleys): Q: You started off being seen as a shoegazing band, looking back now did you enjoy that era? A: hated the term, I hated all of those terms and would have nothing to do with them. It would be an insult to lump MBV in with our generation of bands, who were pretty much MBV copyists. None of those bands, ourselves included, were a tenth as original as the Valentines. My Bloody Valentine and Ride in the same sentence makes me laugh until milk comes out me nose. I liked Ride up until the first album then lost interest, I like pop music. I loved Swervedriver, I thought they were one of the best bands on Creation. COOL!!!!!!

Comment: anyone seen Badly Drawn Boy film clip for the song where he puts a candid camera in place filming him busking during an eight hour day near some busy transport hub. A caption at the end of the filmclip says he made 13 odd pounds for the full day where he went on playing generally un-noticed. I like what this is saying about “making it big” in the music industry and how music must be packaged to be considered sucessful. I think this is right up the alley of all those lame comments about swevedriver being “sooo hard done by” and them being the “most under rated band ever”. See you on the street corner Mr. Franklin & co. Snail

Also did i mention I made a CD a good few months ago that was a Swervedriver Anthology? It has EVERY single swervedriver song on it in mp3 format, and they are all categorised too. Albums,EP’s,Promos they are all dated too.I am a sad bugger for doing that but what the heck, i love swervie a bit too much. Hehehe.

Comment: Hi all! I’ve been a Swervie fan for several years, and wanted to say thanks for this website – I find it a tremendous resource. Also, I started playing the guitar earlier this year, so I’m not very good at all, but I was wondering if anyone could tell me where to find a tab for “Land of the Lost”. The main guitar part sounds really simple, but there’s no way someone as inexperienced as me could figure out even the simplest of songs. Heck, playing Shellac is hard enough for me, haha. If anyone can help, that’d be cool. Thanks!

Comment: TO get the bridge pick-up less twangy, you might try adjusting the screws on the P-90 (lower ’em under the higher strings); this works on my SG, dip the bridge pick-ups on my Mustang down a bit. I NEVER use JUST the bridge pick-up but, toned down, it’s sometimes nice when blended with the (preferred) neck pick-up. -E

Comment: I mean, i guess its ok, it’s just not clear enough for me. I like the sound of it on my telecaster, when im using the Big Muff. But other times i go for the bridge, its clear and cutting. I Guess it depends on what im playing though.

Comment: I like the neck pickup with distortion. It gives a fat, big, very “blue” kind of hovering sound (I suffer from a mild case of synaesthesia). Makes me think of broken power lines humming away…..especially effective when you play on the E-A-D strings. Higher notes played on these strings always sound rounder and less “planky”. I hate trebly, “yidly-yodly-yidly” 1980s-wanker guitar. We got a guitarist like that around here. He still wears the Ocean Pacific (!!!) irridescent jacket, and the Oakley sunglasses (!!!) with the string going around the back. The guy will even talk about how great his car is (dude, got a Jetta, mine’s better, totally…”) A complete fossil, my friends.

Comment: I use the bridge an awful lot because I use high gain distortion, I prefer the sound of bridge distortion. I ordered a new pickup for my Jazzer today, hopefully that will sort things out. I cant say im a fan of the Neck with Distortion.

Comment: Dave, same as mike I rarely use the bridge. If you don’t want twangy just flip the toggle switch forward and keep it on the neck pickup- i find that does me fine. I’ve seen some guys just unscrew the plastic tip to the switch and then tape it permanently forward with some harry black.

Comment: Dave I don’t play a jazzmaster but I know what you’re saying. What I do is I only use my neck pickup, but I set my eq on my amp and distortion petals with more high end to balance out the bottom/bass you get from the neck pickup. Also keeping the crybaby wah on really helps to cut through and thin out the neck pickup. I almost never use my bridge pickup. Just a suggestion…

Comment: here is a product review on the BOSS heavy metal distortion pedal from guitargeek.com This long discontinued pedal has it?s long reign of mid-tone terror back in the eighties and over the years has become a common pawnshop site. This isn?t the most dynamic pedal out there but for deep dark power chord crunch and some occasional palm muted riffage this can really ?destroy ?em all? on a budget. Going off of the suggested settings in HM-2 manual we pulled off a pretty convincing Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, and Iron Maiden mix of tones. This black beauty isn?t just for heavy metal though, tweaking the HM-2 in other directions gave us that thick compressed assault of bands likeSwervedriver or even the valvey haze of atmospheric bands like My Bloody Valentine. Tone snobs may scoff and snicker, but the HM-2 is a lot of fun and can usually be picked up for under $40 bucks.

Comment: dude the metal zone is crap, it sounds good to practice/fool around with but the tone is horrible out of a tube amp. You can find a complete list of the pedals adam uses at http://www.guitargeek.com select band, search for swervedriver and you’ll find it. Also in my opinion if you want the swervedriver tones, i wouldnt change your jazzmaster pickup, just mess with your amp/pedal settings till you get a sound you like. These are all just my opinions though man

Comment: I am aware that Adam uses the Boss Heavy Metal 2 distortion pedal. I was wondering is the Boss MT2 Metal Zone similar to this? I want to get some of those swerve tones, Also I want a better distortion pedal becuase the one I am using is a bit tame. I want something with more output. I think I remember you lot talking about either of these pedals, does anyone have anything interesting to tell me about the metal zone? I want some information dudes. Also I am thinking of putting a better pickup in the bridge position of my jazzmaster, I’ve been told the Seymour duncan hot for jazzmaster or quarter pounder is a good idea. I want something that makes everything, less twangy. Any ideas people? Also listen to me Zedhead clip, i wanna know if it sounds “right” it sure does to me. Also i am so proud because i think i kinda have it sounding like swervie.

Comment: :::rubs eyes::: Art!!!?? Glad to know you’re still around! 🙂 The first time (of the two) I saw Swervie was when they played the Metro during their Raise tour. I think it was the first show after the original drummer left when they had the interim drummer to finish the tour. As someone previous posted, The Poster Children opened for them and I remember thinking the drummer was pretty good, but I couldn’t wait for their set to end so we could see Swervie. The last, and second time, I saw them was also at the Metro for the 99th Dream tour. I am sure glad I didn’t miss that one, hindsight being what it is. Duress totally rocked at that show. The Bouncers/Stage Security were even turning around to see what the hell Adam was doing during Duress to make his guitar sound like that!!! 😀 As for the poster down yonder on the board, I don’t know if the new SS?TH split will be available at Amazon, but I am sure you will see a post here on how to aquire it and there will most likely be a post at the www.toshackhighway.com site about how to purchase it. It will be released on the Sonic Unyon label. BTW, Dan’l, that MM, SWD, SG show sounds like it was awesome! As for the tab spat that went on here, it is cool to see you guys could keep it together. However, maybe you guys could form a band and call it, “Schizo-driver” 😉 Dream Well Swervies!!!!

Comment: OW… stretching the memory muscles here… first Swervedriver show for me was Soundgarden/Monster Magnet/SWD, late summer 1992, Riviera Theater here in town. I dropped some acid for it, so I don’t remember too much. The sound techs were “having problems” – more like being lazy from what I could see, standing behind the booth) – the band was having problems hearing themselves onstage, and nobody was moving too quick to do anything about it. I was pissed. Deep Seat & Juggernaut Rides sounded really good. The acid didn’t kick in until Monster Magnets’ set started… oh man, the flashbacks are comin’ now. Half naked goth chicks dancing in cages, super loud guitars (why couldn’t SWD’s gits have been as loud?)… it became pretty obvious the techs left the board set up for the headliners though – the whole room was vibrating with the Soundgarden set… so much bottom end… I had to leave after awhile 🙂

Comment: Did I ever get to tell you about the first time I got to see the Swervies. They were playing in New York. So my friend Erik (he posts on the Swervie site from time to time), some other guys and I drove up from VA. We had reserved a hotel room in Manhattan next to the club and left for NYC with no directions no map and some KB. I was the pilot-a stoned pilot. The drive was a lot of fun, and amazingly we made it to the hotel only getting lost for a brief moment downtown. We had to ask a postlady for directions. After we checked in we took a small tour around the hotel area, located the club and headed back in for beers and smoke. We had a lot. We got to the club a little early which was cool, because we got te see Garageland. I had never heard of them untill then. They were followed by the Poster Childeren, but I was so excited to see the Swervies I just wanted them to get the fuck off the stage. Some were between us getting there and the Swervies going on I managed to drop a full bottle of beer all over the floor. It was a $5 bottle no less. Anyway, they finally went on and completely blew us away. It was after they recorded 99th Dream, but before they had signed with Zero Hour, so it was the first time we all got hear that material. I thought I was going to nut all over myself when they played Duress. That song put me into a trance that I dont think I have ever come out of. Great memories, even though some of them are blurry. One thing I cant get over is that I lived 20 miles form Oxford growing up, so I was there through the whole Shoegaze revolotion and I never got into to the Swervies until I moved to the US. I think my only memory was seeing the Mastang Ford vid on Top of The Pops or something. Wierd.

Comment: I see where the drummer man has written a book. Congratulations on that, but I must think he has so little to say after I read the part about “Dallas” the Bus Driver. First off, Dallas is one of the best drivers in the business. Perhaps he was a little green when you had him, I’ll give you that, but he drivers far bigger Artists than Swervedriver will ever be, and is consistently called back to drive them again. As far as “Tidying Up” goes, let me say this. I’ve driven your group ever so briefly, and honestly, it would take a bulldozer to clean up the mess you folks make, so your comment about “Dallas” not cleaning up, means little to me. I’m sure he figured that if YOU can make such a mess and live in it, then he would simply let you. I’d also like to caution you and other “Artists” that are so quick to criticize others, such as Bus Drivers. I can assure you that the average Bus Driver could write a REAL book telling the world what groups like yours, are REALLY like. And the name calling thing. I believe you call him a fat walrus looking guy, or something to that effect. Does that really make you feel good to talk about someone like that? Do you feel like a real man, that you can slam a Bus Driver like that? Age, time, and 250 days a year on the road, can take it’s toll. Did it ever cross your mind that the Bus Driver is just trying to make a living like everybody else. It’s not a glamorous job to have, but I wasn’t aware that you required a dress code or physical evaluation prior to going on tour. My guess is that you’ve only been on 3 bus tours ever, give or take ONE, am I close? In closing, let me tell you what I DO know about “Dallas.” As a Musician, if he were to lay his resume next to yours, you wouldn’t qualify to carry his jock strap. A Drummer of almost 30 years I believe, working with George Jones, Buck Owens, Loretta Lynn, Bobby Vinton, Frankie Avalon, Lorrie Morgan, Keith Whitley, and Conway Twitty. I’ll remind you that Conway Twitty has more number 1 records than Elvis and The Beatles combined. Just curious, how many does “Swervedriver” have? I’ve been on Tours with Dallas, and I’ve been to his home. I’ll guarantee you that he has more gold and Platinum Records on his wall than you’ll ever get, and he’s welcome on ANY tour that I ever lead. How many times has “Swervedriver” played Johnny Carson, Mike Douglas, Merv Griffin, The White House, Ford’s Theatre, The Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, David Letterman, Jay Leno, Solid Gold, or a number of other shows? If you should ever dig up enough money to ever lease a bus again, that’s to say, if you can find a driver that would ever allow you on their bus, you may want to leave your ego on the curb, and pay attention to what the Driver has to say, since usually, they’ll know more about Bus Driving, Routing, Music, and the Music Industry, than you’ll EVER know. Yeah, Dallas is fat, and Lord knows he’s not too good looking, but he has a heart as large as he is, and would do about anything for anybody. Goodluck with your “Book.”

Comment: I’d like to thank Swervedriver for making me stay in the Music Business. I knew as soon as I heard them, that if THEY could make a living in this business, then ANYBODY could! That bunch of drug addict, child molesting, motherfucking perverts aren’t worth a shit. And that alleged “Drummer,” “Giz,” couldn’t find his ass with a fucking 2 by 4, much less consider himself a REAL player. The ONLY one who REMOTELY had a clue, was the Bass Player, but his teeth kept getting in the way every time he sucked cock! I’m just happy that Smashing Pumpkins felt sorry enough for them to have them on their stage years ago. But then again, I’m sure Swervedriver had to pay them to play, or whatever you call it that they do. They haven’t had shit going on since. Just a bunch of old has beens. And Adam, give it up son, give it up and go home and get a real job. And Giz, Jiz, Jez, whatever the fuck your name is, I’m gonna kick your fuckin’ ass the VERY next time I run into you brother. Have a goodin’! Louie

Comment: Gee whiz willikens, boys!! I’m sorry I missed this as it was unfolding, but I’m glad that cool heads prevailed. This is just another fine example of how wonderfully obsessed SWD fans are. It’s all about the music, folks. But thanks for adding some real excitement to this place–(cough, cough)–it’s been collecting dust! Seriously though, thanks to everyone who has contributed to the guitar tabs and every other part of this site. My busy ass has barely enough time these days to drop in and update the Message Board archives. Keep the tabs flowin’ and I’ll keep updating ’em. -Art

I think in my tab I was trying to get away from the powerchord usage so I tried to use more openchords to get a similar sound. Nevermind hehe. Anyway cya later dude

Comment: Dave- youre right its pointless, it did get blown out of proportion…i apologize for the “death” commment, that was def uncalled for, i wont lie, i was pissed and let my emotions get the better of me..i truly did not mean it though so i apologize….so if you’re willing to forget this even happenend cool, cuz i want to forget about it, bottom line, i appologize too for and offense, and take back anything i said that was uncalled for. Lets stick together and i hope all is cool….Matt

Comment: Matt, Fair enough, the whole crying comment was uncalled for. But it did look to me like you took the comment really personally. “dude compared to the tab that is on this site mine could have came from a tab book….”, tab books are usually incredibly accurate if not 100% correct. The other post just had a “tone” to it. Hence my comment afterwards. I didn’t take the more correct tab as an insult to mine, (infact i’ve updated my tab and given you credit for the verses and intro sections in it). I didn’t insult you and I didn’t call you any names at all. I did post a sarcastic comment. But what I mean was that I am not that botherd about a guitar tab to wish someones death over it. I would also like to point out that you are saying you did this tab for me and only me. You didn’t go out on a limb for me only, you did it for everyone on here. I just posted a comment stating that your tab wasnt as “RIGHT” (with capital letters) you claimed it to be. I think that this whole ordeal is pathetic and it should be forgotten now. (words where said, things got blew out of proportion, we both realised it’s pointless) and now i will apologise for any offense I may have caused. Sorry matt. Us swervies have to stick together.

Comment: 1st off i wasnt serious, it is a tab, i was pissed though. 2nd you should have used more depth the 1st time instead of insulting some one who did you a favor for no personal gain, other than to just help a fellow fan, i had nothing to gain, just being a nice guy, and you stoop to insulting me for no reason, along with some other person on here who has no balls…..you said ” Crikey, Looks like I hit a nerve. Matt I didn’t mean to make you cry. I’m sorry.” thats a quote, and im sorry thats a sarcastic smart ass comment and you know it was meant that way too and i NEVER said it was 100% perfect, i said it was completely right, and like i said before you can get all the way through with my tab and it will sound right, as opposed to the on here which was my point from the begining….i didnt appreciate trying to help other fans out, and then getting mocked and ridiculed, thats it….and you were obviously that bothered about it or you wouldnt have made 5 posts about it alone today, so it obviously DID bother you enough….so dont try to make me look like a prick, i tried to be NICE and do youa favor or anyone else for that matter who wanted a in my mind “improved” tab, and i get insulted and shit…

Comment: I just refreshed my browser after thinking that my comment about making matt cry was uneccessary. So i posted a comment with a bit more depth. I wasnt insulting your tab or skills, I wasnt being a snob or anything of that nature. I didnt even say that my tab was better than his! And look what I am greeted with. Someone hoping I will die! over a guitar tab?! like im that bothered about it! I think someone got the wrong end of the stick.

Comment: Matt, I admit that your chords for the distorted intro are more accurate than mine. But as for the quiet intro and a few chords missing, well thats wrong. Also wheres the guitar solo in your tab? You can’t claim your tab is 100% correct, i havent claimed that with any of mine, because a tabbed song is just an individuals “Interpretation” not law.

Comment: >>BTW, all of you who have seen Adam play recently, how did the new TH material sound?<< well, the material is strong–especially country grass. i am only hoping that these tunes get “proper” production, unlike the 4 tracks ep. IMHO I heard waaayyy better versions of all the 4 track material live on live recordings. I also think that time is way over due for a FULL LENGTH album. as welcome as the eps are, they are a tease. I mean TOSHACK was a GREAT album. even if adam released a live album of his acoustic shows that would be great. the 7/2/01 show is still the most amazing adam i’ve ever heard.

I can’t wait to hear it. Hopefully Adam and Gang will get the “itch” again in the upcoming year and laydown some new SWD tracks 🙂 At the very least, Jez should get his book published “Somewhere” for us to read, even if only on the net 😀 BTW, all of you who have seen Adam play recently, how did the new TH material sound? You will not be dissapointed in the least. Big influence on Jimmy PAge, Neil HAlstead and Neil Young. Trust me on this one!!! Peace

Comment: Stumbled upon the band after buying Road Rash on the Playstation a few years back. Good band and would be nice to see them get some new stuff out in the near future. Totally different style but another band on that game called ‘Paw’ were(Are?) pretty good and i’d reccommend getting their ‘Death To Traitors’ Album. The title makes it sound like some sort of thrash album but its far from it.

I hardly ever use the rythmn circuit except with the volume off and switching between the two circuits for a stuttery les paul type effect!
