"Angel Eyes" - Roxy Music

I tuned into a radio station at work this morning that was playing a 10-minute mix of this. My choice of radio station was soon vetoed and now we're listening to Robbie Williams.

That was this morning, this afternoon its:

REM - Accelerate LP

I'm not the biggest REM fan in the world, but this new one is pretty rockin. It would be even better without the million dollar overused production, but that's just me.

really? - I should give this a listen then...
As much as I used to love R.E.M.... and even after having seen them a couple times back in the glory days - I had kinda finally said enough is enough - especially after they lost their drummer and put out a fairly shitty disk full of fairly shitty drums... plus the need to seem to go back to the same lame ass ballad song time and time again ever since "Everybody Hurts" - really did it in for me.
Then, suddenly Loper comes in with a compliment! Hmmmmmmm....

"Race-In" - Battles

I hate this record, because I love it. That doesn't make sense, but it does. I played the whole thing on my radio show, and the most common reaction was "What the fuck?" Just what I was shooting for!

Yeah man. I'm not even a huge fan at all but the new one is clearly an attempt at a solid, upbeat, simple rock record. I like it quite a bit.

Thats a great track Chev. Trik put it on her lone WAB I think. Ive played it 3 times on my new mac.

What do you mean with your last comment here?

Moen, Battles are hard work I reckon.

Today Ive had a few choice tracks to check out. The new 78 Saab is lovely. I love that twangy guitar. Big Underground Lovers sounds there also. Check them out J-mo, should have it on a dvd i sent ya last year ;-)

Also Sasquatch - Let It In - thanks for the heads up there. Love the stoner rock too.

Pete Schilling...theres a blast from the past.

Is that guitar reminding me of Run For The Hills? Im hopeless with old riffs, but this is very familiar. Sort of a galloping sound..

I don't own any of their albums, which is digraceful. Can anyone recommend where I should begin?

No lopes.I've been on a metal kick lately and I'm exploring here and there. I'll probably hand pick a couple songs from a few different bands instead of buying whole albums. Seems I'm having trouble liking most of the songs.

The Sleep song I remembered from the movie "Gumo". I instantly liked it. So far I'm digging the slower heavy music, like Sabbath. I can't do the death/speed metal anymore.

So,is "Dopesmoker" dope?

Dopesmoker is incredible. It's one song that's about an hour long. Pure, unfettered doom. You'd love it.

For me, Electric Wizard is THE doom band though. I think Dopethrone is the best doom metal record of all time.

Check out Torche too. Melodic doom if you will. Imagine Sleep crossed with Jawbox like vocals. Great band.
