That's my current favorite off that ep. Great song.

Reflection - Tool
(when I'm talking about favorite bands I usually don't mention these guys because they are, to me, head and shoulders above any other band. Ever.)

I love swervedriver, but a Tool show will change you.

I just found out A Perfect Circle is releasing an album of covers about Peace, Love, Understanding and Greed on election day.
The video for Imagine by Lennon is up on there website. Pretty interesting.

Teenage Fanclub - Alcoholiday

I really am enjoying Lateralus - thanks for the lp suggestion Moe. I love how they crank and then the quiet parts just bliss through the speakers. Good Gear!

Just discovered that Cheap Trick re-recorded the entire "In Color" LP with Steve Albini not too long ago. This thing kills.

I didn't jamesg - but, I haven't ever heard that one either... thanks for the heads up though.
I only have Slanted and Enchanted - which I love!
and
Westing (By Musket and Sextant) - which I never really liked very much except for a couple songs.

Behind The Scenes And The Sounds Of The Times - off the Live Compilation.

The live albums are sure giving me a greater appreciation of ESR and 99th Dream.

Well the "westing" cd is a compile of all of their early singles when they hadn't quite become a cohesive unit yet, I dig it personally but its just not the same as their big studio stuff.
And you may not know that they re-released "slanted & enchanted" as a double cd last year with tons of b-sides and unreleased material.

yeah jamesg - I just noticed that today actually when I looked up Crooked Rain. I can't believe there is an entire CD worth of extra stuff! Do you have it? What do you think?
I saw Pavement live. They put on a good fun show. One of the guys started doing cart wheels and summer saults across the stage!

I agree Boomer - when I first heard some of the 99th Dream stuff live from the download page Brad had up before these shows - it certainly gave me a new appreciation for a few of the songs. I always really liked 99th Dream - but, LIVE some of the songs have an extra goodness to them!

nah Rocket I don't have it _yet_, I actually bought all pavements releases on tape and I've never gotten to upgrade to cds so I'm going to buy them both at the same time on the 26th. I guess I'll hold off on the others until they get a double disk release (I've read that they are probably in the works at some point).
I never got to see them live but I would have jumped at the chance. They released a double dvd last year "slow century" with all their videos and 2 live shows. Good stuff.

That SWD double DVD set sounds like a good idea for Brad's idea funding project...

Did the band ever videotape their shows? Heck, I'd enjoy watching an animated SWD playing the new live set! Especially if the music vids were on the DVD too.

Okay I'm a dork. I just went to ideacradle and sure enough that is what the "idea" is. But would the band find it in their hearts to add video footage (if any) to the "product"?

I saw this on the woxy boards today:

Looks like at best if BSS keeps the ball rolling they won't be touring anymore. :(

Bloody hell jamesgoddamn! That is a depressing thing. I was a little freaked about the bit about the sporto dude crying in the front of the crowd, that was me in a dream I had earlier this year. Nothing like it has effected me like this band, my band of the year.

Still Toronto is on the cards for 2006, heres hoping they last that long.

Because of that mines,
Broken Social Scene - I Slept With Bonhomme At the CBC

Feel Good Lost is such a creeper.

I cant even remember what they sound like, or any of their tracks. I do remember the guitarist flicked a handfull of plectrums into the crowd at one point. Never seen that before.

Today
Songs: Ohia - Soul
Just got Death In Vegas - Back To Mine and this is a standout.

Today for me...

The Ocean Blue - Pedestrian from the waterworks ep

I'm going to append this to include the Arcade Fire "funeral" album... been listening to it this morning and it is great stuff.
For you guys that dig the last BSS album i think you'll like it as well.

Croz: don't fret too much about the BSS article I posted. Later that day I saw a billboard article about their next album coming out in '05.

Ok I really do have things to do today... morning coffee hasn't quite motivated me to move from my chair yet though.
Cros this is for you bro, I guess I was a little shocked and prematurly pasted that BSS article.

From pitchfork:

In the rarified world of lumbering 11-piece music collectives, Broken Social Scene is faring pretty fuckin' well. Sure, their last proper album, You Forgot It in People, saw limited release way back in 2002, but following its stateside issue in 2003 and the ensuing attendant acclaim heaped on the album, they've spent 2004 touring and basking in the glow of indie rock celebrity. And oh yeh, recording the follow-up.

As reported earlier in the year, Lollapalooza's cancellation officially nixed the band's studio stasis, and they've been hard at work on their new full-length ever since. According to Billboard, BSS founders/leaders Brendan Canning and Kevin Drew have managed to pull the whole Scene together, and now have between 15 and 20 near-finished tracks that will be considered for inclusion on the new LP. Now set to be released early spring 2005, Canning revealed some details about the upcoming full-length, such as the prominent presence of a horn section, the consequent detours into "Bacharach territory", and-- last but not least-- the working title of the record, Windsurfing Nation, an apparent reference to all the "glidey songs."

The tracklist is predictably still in flux, but Canning also gave some song titles, including "Shoreline", "It's All Gonna Break", "Superconnected", and the spiritual successor to People's "I'm Still Your Fag", "Handjobs for the Holidays". "Superconnected", in particular, is garnering rave reviews from fans. One very modest insider who attended a Toronto Island performance in August said the song "is killing audiences. It fucking floored the crowd. I've had that song stuck in my head since." Our source also went on to say that the material the band has been playing live at rare recent shows has "been a lot tighter and more dynamic than the first record stuff. From the shows, it seems to me like the real difference is that these are songs written by a band that is playing live music every fucking day of the week."

Which is just about as ringing an endorsement as one might ask for in relation to their newly announced world tour. Starting mid-November, Broken Social Scene will be out on the road once again, busting through Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, and Austria before extending charity visits to poor Belgium and much-maligned Luxembourg. Then it's off to open for the Pixies in New York City, after which the band will headline a date at the Bowery Ballroom. "We have to drive down to New York, so we figured if we went all that way, we could play our own show," Canning told Billboard. "This will generate a little bit of scratch for everybody's Christmas presents." And you can help! Dates:

11-16 Madrid, Spain - Moby Dick
11-17 Cadiz, Spain - Aulario De la Bomba
11-18 Granada, Spain - Planta
11-19 Cordoba, Spain - La Mode
11-20 Majorca, Spain - Plaza Mayor
11-21 Barcelona, Spain - Apolo
11-24 Rome, Italy - Circolo Degli Artisti
11-25 Bologna, Italy - Covo
11-26 Milano, Italy - Rainbow
11-27 Rimini, Italy - Velvet
11-28 Torino, Italy - Supermarket
11-30 Geneva, Switzerland - L'Usine
12-01 Fribourg, Switzerland - Fri-Son
12-02 Munich, Germany - Feierwerk
12-03 Graz, Austria - Arcadium
12-04 Ebensee, Austria - Kino
12-05 Dresden, Germany - Starclub
12-06 Berlin, Germany - Maria
12-08 Cologne, Germany - Gebaude 9
12-09 Esch-Alzette, Luxembourg - Kulturfabrik
12-10 Brussels, Belgium - AB Club
