Did you see that new Velvet cover on the Adam Franklin mySpace account? Black Angel's Death song. Cheery... and good. : )

I never knew about this Head like a Kite track either

http://www.myspace.com/music/head-like-a-kite-43035196/songs/beat-zero-feat-adam-franklin-swervediver-66498569

Maybe a sign there may be some plans for some live shows? Maybe???

I like the new Deerhunter disk - Halcyon Digest. At first I thought it was a little too mellow and more like his Atlas Sound projects - but, by my second listen I was eating my words and lovin' it!

Thank god too - because there have been a handful of big let downs to surface lately...

another let down appears to be the new Blonde Redhead! I hope I'm wrong - but, the clips make it sound like the guitars went away and the guy isn't singing enough...

I'm still completely heartbroken over the newest Film School release. Such a disappointment - as each album kept getting better and better - by their 5th they really lost me... probably won't even bother with the next one...
There are about 5 descent tracks (10 is a highlight for me - reminds me of a lost track from Brilliant Career). But, where did the guitars go? What happened? It's so boring, flat, predictable, poppy, and techy...

On the other hand
I just found out The Engineers have already released another new one - the clips sound pretty cool too...

And - nice Laurels clip Snail. I've really loved everything I've heard by these guys (which is actually only 3 other songs) - but, I'm looking forward to a release!

Rocket, I love the newest Deerhunter too. You guys might like the "Glorytellers", which is the more quiet incarnation of Karate. They have two records. All the Karate stuff is awesome too, great players.

Yeah, they are streaming the entire album on their Myspace page right now. No downloading of course, but at least you can check it out. I havent scored a copy yet and as always it will be a pain in the ass to find in the states I'm sure.

So far IMO its a fantastic album.

Hey Jeronimo - I bought the 78 Saab on iTunes right after I read your post - couldn't resist. It's great - I was thinking that by their 5th album they do nothing but continue to age like a fine wine!

I also bought the exit calm that was recommended by Tiger - it IS very reminiscent of early Verve and maybe even rocks it a bit harder on occasions - I'm looking forward to more listens for sure.

Today...
exit calm - "Hearts and Minds"

I think there are a lot of people that don't like this - or say it's not as good as the original formation - that may be true... - but, I rocked the whole disk twice in a row this morning - it totally hit the spot!

Man. Listened to Carnival by Lupine Howl on the weekend, whilst camping on the beach, next to a camp fire, after several beverages and a few hot knives. Think I got it off MezcalTed or Rocket a few years back in a cd swap. Thanks whichever of you it was, because that is THE camping song when me and my mate head to the beach and crank up the tunes.
And I use Souvlaki Space Station as my ringtone from one of those cd's too - v. cool

Awesome stef - I do LOVE that CD! It was originally Jaguar from this forum that introduced me to them. Somewhere in this place there is a thread - "bands with a Swervedriver feeling" or something like that - that had a ton of great recommendations.

I recently pulled out
The Gandharvas - "Gonna Be So Loose"
off - Sold For a Smile

total flashback of great times and awesome memories...

Yeah, love "This All Happened". "To Myself" is my fave though. Messy, f%#*ed up, other-worldly, trip of a song. (Just realised that To Myself is actually my ring tone (not Souvlaki...))

nice - I'll have to pull out The Sound of the Colour of the Sun to listen to while I sketch this evening.

Today...
The Asteroid #4 - "Thank You R.E.A."
off - King Richard's Collectibles

This track has a total GBV feeling to me - I ended up listening to a "best of" GBV disk the second part of the day!
