Hey dudes!

Today I've been listening to
Unknown Mortal Orchestra
Song of the day is "bicycle"

Pretty cool band. I think if you like Deerhunter and/or BSS that you might really like these guys.

Check out a track:

White Lies - Bigger Than Us

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-KtAE6wc4M

Third song in this video (great version of it). I happened to see this show on ABC mid last week in between shows - they reminded me of the Church somehow. then Joy Division. Then The Cure (somehow). next thing I knew I had watched the whole segment instead of flicking over to a 2 1/2 Men re-run or somethin...

Have hadta order the album into my local record chain. Hopefully here next few days, as I have resisted the urge to just pinch a torrent of it. Wanna dump the CD in the tray and read the booklet etc etc etc

Happened upon this bit of interesting connected coincidental info too:

In 2011 Moulder co-produced the album Ritual by White Lies.

Loop - "Black Sun"
I grin like a mofo everytime I hear that rambling bass line loop intro. Just makes me smile...then the shimmering guitar coming in just throws a cold shower of shivers over my smilin' ass. Does it get any better?

what the?

I don't believe I got any kind of special package in the mail today...

so hey - I recently bought:
Close Lobsters - Forever Until Victory
song of the day - "Nature Thing"

I love these guys - one of my old college favorites that I had all but forgotten about for years and years. I have Foxheads Stalk This Land on cassette but, I only have one little player that plays cassettes any more... and I never really use it. So, I decided to search iTunes to see if they had anything available to buy - and that's where I discovered Forever Until Victory. It was released in 2006 and it's a compilation of un-released tracks, singles and 3 cover tunes. 19 tracks total.
It's a great collection.

The problem is that I still need a good copy of Foxheads...

I've always had a boom box in my studio. that's where all of my music is stored - including my cassette collection. It sucks not having a cassette player option. I'm still bummed that neither of our cars have cassette players any more = lame... I've been trying to obtain mp3's of my favorite tapes - but, it's a looooong process.

speaking of buying mp3 duplicates of old cassettes - I'm listening to Bandwagonesque this morning!

btw - this holiday one of my goals is to finally merge all of my "burned" CD's with my regular CD's. For some reason I've always kept them separate. The thing that sucks is that some are in a carousel, some are in big Photo style albums, and others are in single page album cases. I think I'm just going to put up shelving that takes an entire wall and free the CD's from their pain in the ass albums!

Today

I know, but I was driving my girlfriends car.. I always loved Disintergration by The Cure.

I'll Stay High - Dig

My Jeep still has a cassette player. In fact, I use a cassette adapter to listen to my Ipod. Still can't find a better replacement, as Ive tried numerous other options.

Last year, while cleaning out my garage, I came across numerous mix tapes that I made between 94-96. Holy crap were they good. Lot's of underground bands that I had almost forgotten about. I love MP3s and I appreciate what the internet has done for music but nothing beats a mix tape.

If life is but a dream, wake me.

Caught these guys at the local with only three people and the support band in the 'crowd'. Was a waste of golden soundwaves journeying in the air that only so few got to hear this live. The Church were playing in Newi that night though. Nonetheless it was a Jazzmaster show supreme. Sound texture like high grade sandpaper and beautiful, solid, thick, smooth rhythm section. Like melting butter!

Don't listen to what these guys may say, they definitely have something to show for their efforts. New album eminent too!

Still on the Chevelle kick this week. Their new album isnt their best by far, but there are some pretty good jams on it nonetheless.

The Meddler might be the best Chevelle song, period.

Come on, Swervedriver! Time to put out some new music. See what Ive been listening to? There just isnt that much great music out there any more. Time to pounce. Make it happen, fellas!
