I gotta tell you guys...
I finally bought the Brian Jonestown Massacre 2 disk comp called:
Tepid Peppermint Wonderland: A Retrospective
...and it's really good. Total vintage sounding 60's jams. The main guy - Newcombe, put out 10 albums in 10 years - and 3 in 1996 alone! That's impressive. But, according to the booklet he sounds like a bit of an ass... and also somebody you wouldn't want to sit around and jam with because the next thing you know a variation of your chords might show up on his next album. Reminds me of how nobody wanted to sit next to Picasso in art class because he would take there style and make it better...
Anyway - if you haven't checked these guys... I think most Swervedriver fans - especially of ESR would like BJM.

Rocket, are you into the Elephant 6 Collective? Just about all of the artists in that group are into the beatlesque, Brian Wilson Pet Sounds kinda sound. If you like BJM, etc.

Check It:

Galaxie 500 - "Tugboat"

Good sweet lord, this band is amazing. If you haven't heard them in awhile or ever, there is a bloody great reason why they are considered one of the (semi-)underground greats of the 80s ... and one of the most underrated of all for my money

On an unrelated note, I was shocked to hear a Railway Children reference, and to discover that they put out something on Factory Records. All I know of them was their semi-alt-hit album from around 1990 that bore "Every Beat of the Heart" .... that was a great dreamy-alt-pop album, so very quinessentially late 80s/early 90s.

No - I haven't seen them. I think I'll keep my eye out though and see if they are playin' any time soon. I popped onto their site and it sounds like they have a new singer and are about to finish recording - so, I would guess they might be hittin the town soon...

"Supernova" - Opal, from "Happy Nightmare Baby" (SST, 1987)

Actually the whole record is a somambulent bliss out... I bought this a few months after its release, and I can't tell you how much drink/smoke I've imbibed with this record on. Opal was the precursor to Mazzy Star - turn the clock back a few years, swap out Hope Sandoval with husky-voiced Kendra Smith, toughen the band up a bit and you have HNB. Side two is a good makeout side...

Yup, I have and you've got a good point there... a band that actually popped in my mind is Chapterhouse, due to the very similar vocal harmonies (ie. Chapterhouse: Then We'll Rise)...

That whole record (the original version) breaks me out in a sweat. It is about the only record I still play active "air guitar" to..sometimes I even roll on the floor, or jump up and down until I'm out of breath. AGREE wit' ya'...

anyone heard the new stuff by Kaada/Patton?
Again i forget the track name but its real interesting, eclectic stuff with Mike's cool vocals. Oh here it is, http://www.billboard.com/bb/reviews/album_exclusives_article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1000740849 or you can here it hear, http://www.kaada.no/romances/ its track 2 that ive been liking.

The other day i was listening to the radio while painting my fence. The station had a give away and i won a copy of the Baby Dolls CD. The first track, Fucked Up is a recent favourite. A starter for my Burnies #4

But todays would have to be something off rockets Burnies#3.
Supergroove, The Shins, Remy Zero or the last track rocket, whats it called? Choice bro! Plus thanks for the other gear. Wheat is sublime but Gandharvas hasnt got me yet.... More listens needed I spose. Bird 3 is wicked though. Love ya work man.

Melwas, I am currently listening to Antartica. Nice stuff. But not my fav of the day yet.
