Interloper - Totally agree. Thanks for pointing me in the Methodrone direction.

Today - Playing the "Studio Swervedriver" playlist -

Mars, Maelstrom (twice), Harry and Maggie, Last Train to Satansville.

I donated my Juggernaut winnings to my university's radio programming manager. I think I've converted him. Gonna start "requesting" songs heavily on the college rock and space rock shows - maybe I can get him to put it into the regular rotation, if the label approves. Not likely, but it's worth a shot.

I emailed Brad about the bot-posters... hopefully he can deem one of us worthy of moderating them back to where they came from.

SOTD for me is the BSS song that Boomer posted the link to... its kinda sounds like another one of their songs but I haven't had a chance to figure out which one yet.

Thanks man... been hearing this song on the college station for a while and never knew who sang it! Do you have the whole CD?
OK I'm gone from the site 24hr and I can't believe all the new posts... stars are different... & so cool trying to get SWD on reg rotation Boomer... OK I don't know much about legal music stuff (aside from obvious things like plagiarizing is bad & copyright stuff) but what would Sanctuary have against 'Juggernaut Rides' getting airplay?

Todays tune... 'Never Enough' - The Cure
And thanks Bradsears for cleaning the gambling Bots off our forum.

This track rocks!! It's WAB worthy.
I know that I've gone on a bit in the past about how many bands are currently ripping off the old XTC punk sound that they had in their beginnings like on "Go 2" and some of their other earliest stuff... well, Kaiser Cheifs has it - I'm tellin ya (though it's been a while since I've listened to my vinyl Go 2) - it really has that same feel. I love that sound! bring it on.

pleasure's mine, rocket!

I love the way "sue is fine" sometimes sounds like "suicide" because of the multiple vocal tracks etc.
"no more sorry" is the other one that kills me from that lp.

I heard MBV's 'Soon' on the Discovery Channel last night, kinda cool and surprising.

Today it's 'Save' by Idaho. Definitely one of my top ten bands.

Well, I'm not holding my breath, but this guy says to look for it in the "Moderate Roation" on the station (less than heavy rotation but more than loght rotation) sometime in the next two weeks. They track with CMJ, so I'll be able to find out how many times and what songs and when they were played. An interesting experiment. He says he's limited to album tracks not released in the US and B-sides. So no Mezcal tracks and no Raise tracks. Was 99th dream released in the States? (I told him no, but I'm not 100% sure). The only problem is that the DJ's during the regular rotation time are mainly college students that are required to do this for class credit, so many don't really care or even listen to what they are playing.

It is a 100,000 watt station, so if any SWD is played, there will be a decent audience for it. I'll post back when I get some numbers. The folks that have specialty shows still have to play a bit of the rotation CDs, so I think it may appeal to the "indie college" and "space rock" shows. I'll probably call and request SWD during those times.

Boomer - It was on the car show Top Gear. It's been big in the UK for a while I believe. When 'Soon' came on they were racing around Nick Mason's Ferrari. It made me think if they played MBV, who knows what else they could dig up? I mean, how fitting would it be to hear something like 'For Seeking Heat' or 'Sci-Flyer' on a car show?!

OK I get it, can only play tunes not previously released by other labels in the States. My copy of 99th Dream was the one finally released in '98 (though it says '97 on the jacket) by Zero Hour of NYC... definitely a US release... so nothing from 99th
Well that leaves the 3 ESR tracks (sucks 'Last Day On Earth' isn't there) along with 'Over' 'Neon Lights Glow' (which would be ultra-awesome to hear on the radio) 'Just Sometimes' & the SOMF 89-demo.
Kudos Boomer for trying to get some new Swerve fans out there. I have no contacts at either of the college stations here, so best I can do is to place requests during the coveted midnight to 4AM slot

Hey Rocket, 'Isn't Anything' is quite sweet eh? The morphing of sueisfine to suicide thing I'm sure is quite intentional. Like how on the next track after they make it sound like Belinda is whispering in your ear outside of a noisy euro-disco. Many moments on that album
BTW - thanks again all, digging the new tune from BSS!

Actually I think that BBS track is called 7/4 (Shoreline), officially. I scored some live shows via slsk; Live in Rome and Austin City Limits which it features on both aswell. Never thought to recheck BBS on Soulseek. Score!

So today
BBS - Anthems For A Seventeen Year Old Girl (live)

Songs:Ohia, its good all the way through TezcalMed (hic!) Im thinking if you enjoy Neil Young acoustic stuff you'll dig it. I keep thinking its him singing, though Im not a real Neil fan so diehards will no doubt disagree here. Track one is in the pipe as I type for you here.

Got a copy of the Rising Tide by Sunny Day Real Estate about a month ago, and it's a massive departure from the first album Diary, I guess it would be though as it was recorded 10-12 years after Diary, but a very sweet album all the same, great drum production and lots of guitar parts happening.

the title track and disappear are doin it for me atm

I was curious which would be your pick there, but then you can't really go wrong with anything off that album. Actually just scored a cheap sealed copy of 'Leave Here A Stranger' on eBay today... as I fill some holes in my SF59 collection.

I just got the jamesg DVD package in yesterday's mail... so this has been the object of my attention for obvious reasons.

came on here to mention this "fave song today" music. great for mellow "working while listening to music" situation:

http://neilyoung.com/greendale_frames.html

go to that link and wait for the music to load. it's a loop from one of the songs on his latest GREENDALE album (you may remember me wanking on about my religious experience watching him and Crazy Horse play in LA and Vegas back in 2003). he's also releasing a new album next month - with a DVD showing the recording of every song fro the record. like an updated bible for me... weeeeeee!

anyway, this loop is so mellow and cool. i reckon you all should at least check it out.

opening several windows playing the loop, slightly outta time sounds cool as well...

coincidentally Neil is mentioned up above in this thread.... hey Eugenious - you a Rusty Neil fan ? eveyone, hear the album ON THE BEACH ( http://www.thrasherswheat.org/tnfy/otb.htm there was a petition for it's release on CD which - maybe - resulted in it's CD release 29 years after the orig. vinyl release.....)

John Garcia is such an amazing singer, huh. i have only downloaded a few Hermano tracks. i should buy something.... they had QOTSA programming RAGE over here last weekend. i hate QOTSA, but, the promise of at least a little Kyuss footage made me tape it.

it made me realise just how freakin good they were. what a drag that they are no more.... don't mean to shit on those who like QOTSA, but to me , it is unbleivable that QOTSA can suck so hard after the utter magic of Kyuss..... tho i spose, Josh Homme was only one piece in the Kyuss puzzle. I mean, Brant Bjork... his recent stuff is amazing... and Garcia played with Scott Reeder in Unida who were great too...

Slo Burn - Garcia's 1st post Kyuss band released an amazing EP> i totally adore that record...

tho just listening to the 'radio' playing on the Hermano site, some of the music sounds like cliche QOTSA stuff..... maybe i'll stick to Kyuss, Slo Burn and Unida for my John Garcia fill...

Well, I dig both Unida records (I count the unreleased one) and Slo-Burn but Ive got to disagree with you about QOTSA. I think that they are amazing and are damn near impossible to classify. I dig Kyuss too but in my opinion, they are no where near as creative as QOTSA and I feel that Homme was the driving force in that band.

Just my opinion. Take it for what its worth.

Fault Line - BRMC (off Howl)

There's been a bit of talk of BRMC's latest album - after 1 or 2 listens (bought it last night), I think it's pretty good. Definately a cut back sound from previous 2 albums but it's still very BRMC. I think Peter Hayes is getting back to his BJM roots (he's a former guitarist of the band) as there are quite a few songs that sound BJM-ish.

Thats what Im talking about Loper. Helmet was the band that started it all for me. Ive got a demo/b-sides/live mp3 disc with about 50 songs including the Steve Albini demos, EPs, all of their soundtrack and compiliation CD releases, re-mixes, Peel sessions, you name it. Let me know if you want a copy.

jamesg - I was going to place the RBG order Tuesday night - but their online store doesn't use SSL (?) (!). I emailed their support folks but got no reply. Maybe it's something with my browsers (I don't use IE), but other https stores encrypt just fine with those browsers.

Oh yeah. May fav for the day is:
