Roscoe - Midlake

"The Sons of Fleetwood Mac" have made a hell of an album. If you enjoy chilled out 70's rock, you'll dig these guys.

I saw them once in a festival, but I wasn't really into them at that point and I was very young (15), so I can't remember anything.
But there are tons of individual projects coming from members or ex-members of this band, Moondog Jr., Père Ubu, Snakefinger, Captain Beefheart & the Magic Band, Kiss My Jazz, Vive la fête, ...
Maybe you should watch out for some, Kiss My Jazz should be the one to start with.

So, for me, today: Girls in Hawaii - Short Song for a Short Mind.

Another blegian band. Not plenty so I prefer to present them straight.

I can't get "From Gold to Cold" by the Life and Times out of my head. It plays over and over. It's like the ultimate progression from "High Scores" to their newer sound. Amazing. Can't wait to see them, only a month away.

Boomer, you're trying to catch up? I can't get out of second gear [and I can't get my car / outta second gear! ]

Whoever posted "Fashionably Uninvited" by Mellowdrone... thank You! I found their version of Van Halen's "Unchained" to be pretty slick.

OK so I might be a board geezer - but dig the bridge kids in this nugget that doesn't get played anymore:

"She's Come Undone" - The Guess Who

And my new overdriven/compressed free math jazz rock Chapman Stick band will be called Pleasant Shopping Experience

The bummer continues. I am staring at a stack of recommendation forms from 3 students. 5 papers to read for my boss's classes over the next three days (I am covering for her while she is out of town). And I was really frickin' hoping that jamesg's DVDs would be in the mailbox when i got home. I hope they didn't arrive last thursday, when it seems I had a NetFlix video swiped from the mail (Sopranos Season 6 disc 1).

<sigh>

Tonight's track of the night:

"A to Fade in" - Adorable off Against Perfection

Perhaps it is time to dive into the WAB-o-Moenkopi...

That one's incredibly addictive. I've had it stuck in my head for days before. It's amazing it took me so long to discover them.

You, sir, have not been following the WAB/gMail threads. And You Brought Us Here is a great album.

My SOTD:

Calla - "Testify" off Collisions

I also put it on my Burnies v7 which included a Darker My Love track, if I'm not mistaken.

Moen was on the Darker My Love trail too! I love everything I've heard - but, all of it has just been singles from Boomer and Moen. They are on my Want List though...

Today...

This morning I needed a good loud kick-start so...
UFO - Natural Thing off of Strangers In The Night! I could listen to that opening riff all day!

Haven't listened to that one in years. Heard a VJ on VH1 mention it last night and it just put me in the mood.

Rocket, here is a link to purchase the Darker My Love live shows:

http://www.livedownloads.com/stash.asp?artist=116

The 24th is a very good show. The first one in the series is pretty funny, they kept picking up a local radio station over the sound system a la Spinal Tap. Any of the other ones are good though.

THANK YOU - Boomerclause de Santa!
It's good stuff - different than what I expected - but, really good!

Today...
Appleseed Cast - "Strings"
off - Low Level Owl: Volume II

I just bought my friends old ipod for $20 because he just bought that brand new little tiny one and was tired of the one he sold to me.
Can I just say:
SCORE!
Anyway - I was trying it out tonight while packing for our families Thanksgiving travel - and "Strings" not only blew my socks right off my feet - but, on out of my suitcase as well!

Today's song of the day:

a little twist to show my wife's trance addiction that it is just old electronica with a beat.

Hey Boom,

What's that Jean Michele stuff like? I've never heard it and am curious. I've been on a huge 70's electronic thing lately anyway. Especially the stuff that came outta Germany. Harmonia, Cluster, Tangerine Dream, etc.
