"Sunlit Ascending" is an incredible song.

Speaking of Rocket, I haven't seen him around lately, and I don't have that Spacebar track, so he needs to get his happy ass back here.

Today it's ...
"Who Was In My Room Last Night?" - Butthole Surfers

and "The Wooden Song" too.

I second this. I need all the Space bar stuff uploaded in one batch for my own personal selfish enjoyment.

Yeah, where did Rocket disapear to?

Still on a Sonic Youth kick after Saturday's show, man they were awsome! I totally did not expect to be blown away by them.

I hear ya Brooks. I'm still blown away that they played drunken butterfly when I saw them. Was Mark Ibold from Pavement still playing bass for them?

Yes! Mark Ibold was there. That was a cool surprise.

I remeber them playing Candle and Silver Rocket, which were great. I actually really dug the Rather Ripped songs live. I'll see them again if they come around.

Speaking of the Ipod, the shuffle gods sent me Burden In My Hand by Soundgarden today. Right in the middle of my workout. Hadnt heard that song in years and forgot how good it is. Bad part is, Ive had it on my Ipod for at least a year and a half.

Yeah! A new game!

My Top 3 bands I want back together (besides SWD, of course):

Catherine Wheel
Mr. Bungle
Hum

I would say Failure, but that would mean disbanding Autolux. Tough decision.

Oh yeah,
"Fuck Evenflow" - Swell

With Cornell leaving Audioslave (thank god) and RATM reforming I would say that this was not out entirely of the question. I doubt Ben Shepherd would be on bass though and it might be a bit of a wrench for Matt Cameron to leave his day job...

Hey dudes - A little Boomer told me you guys mentioned Space Bar!
Cheers!
Sorry I haven't been around to shoot the shit and read excellent musical goodness. Life, work, and WORK!
We're still playin' dudes - in a reformed combo that is killing all of our other combinations. Chris is finally taking on the lead singing duties as he should of from day one.
With Chris singing you guys should all have our demos of:
Shadow
Only One
These Days
and my favorite - Your Sound.
Slowdown was sung by an asshole - but, it was perhaps one of the more finished records considering levels and tone...
Our last attempted singer only gave us one good vocal track - Fox and Hound - we'll need to re-record it with Chris singing and our better studio set up that we now have...
We have a hand full of (6 or 7) new songs that I'm totally stoked with - just need to record them now.
We have other oldies - but, they are all going to bed.
Let me know if you guys don't have any of those and I'll get them to ya.
We are re-recoding everything - no more shitty demos!

btw - since Space Bar is taken - we are thinking of going with:
Anchorhead

I love all of it, but I'm still partial to the Louder than Love era mostly cause they were still kinda creepy sounding. I saw them on that tour as well.

a whole separate topic could be started on bands we want back.

my selections:

beachwood sparks
blur
flaming lips (1995 lineup with ronald jones, great psych-rock before they got so flaky)
komeda
trunk federation
pavement (maybe)
weezer (maybe)
MBV (is it too late? would they ultimately fall into the next category?)

bands that we loved but don't want back/should've quit while they were ahead/were seduced by the dark side to do reunion shit:

janes addiction
smashing pumpkins
big star
radiohead (i'm going to be controversial and say it, but i only loved them before they went off the deep end)
do i even need to mention the stones/who/floyd types who have become total cartoons of their former greatness?

in other news...
favorite song today = delgados "the light before we land"

I didn't list them because The Fire Theft is nearly the whole lineup, but I think the SDRE albums are better.

I think I like Radiohead better the more they go off the deep end. Personal preference.

I'd like to have Soul Coughing back. The new Mike "I wish I was Dave Matthews" Doughty isn't cutting it.

Faith No More, "Angel Dust" era, would be nice too.

Oh, and The Jesus & Mary Chain

Helmet (with Stainer and Brogdan)

Sugar

The Jesus Lizard

Rocket From The Crypt
The Wildhearts

just to name a few.

So, two votes for RoadHead now.

I love going through my boxes of CD's.

From the "Pandemonium" album 1994 -"Millennium"

Also, "Seeing Red" from a couple years back.

I wouldn't mind having "Pork Soda" era Primus back with us.

Soundgarden could rock but Cornell has too much of a banshee voice for me(Except their last effort, he seemed to tone it down a bit). Audioslave didn't have the fire that Rage had but at least Cornell doesn't sing like his nuts were just kicked by a nun wearing steel toed boots. Him and Robert Plant should go have their testicles checked. Sorry folks, I hate the banshee vocals.

I just pulled out Pork Soda the other day, so I could play "The Pressman" on my show. I liked Tales From the Punchbowl, too, but after that they lost me.

If you hate banshee vocals I'm guessing you have absolutely no use for The Mars Volta.

Mars Volta is a great band but the vocals are a bit much for me. I used to listen to the banshee's but for some reason it just seems corny to me now. I like the music though.

was huge in love with primus in the early days. frizzle fry, suck on this, seas of cheese. man, those guys could put on a show. it always made us little prog dork teenagers giddy when they'd throw in all the rush covers. pork soda was the last one i really dug.

oh, and incidentally, i also vote for RoadHead.

Funny that. Actually, I thought Plant had great, ballsy vocals for the 1st two Zep albums, and then for some reason, he decided to become a Eunuch, with a little girl's voice. I didn't like that too much, but I think their fan base got bigger when he did that (hmmmm). Doncha just love the WAAhoo WAAhoo part of "How Many More Times"?
Can't speak for Cornell. Aside from that one song Dark Days or whatever he did with SoundGarden, his voice I find mainly irritative. And don't even get me started on Mars Revolta. That singing is mainly migraine material for me.

loper, i'll back you up on the genesis.

hayseed, ICGB tickles me, but reminds me of a cross between Insane Clown Posse and International Noise Conspiracy. which may not be very good.

why not take a swervie line for a band name? Petroleum Spirits. Director's Cut. Kill the Superheroes. there's countless other (probably even cooler) possibilities.

keep in mind there's already a band called Sci-Flyer. And i don't think "the birds" would be available either :)

Ty has been one of my favorite guitar players for many years. Kings X is still together but all three members have done plenty of side projects.
Ty has 3 solo albums under his name along with 2 Jelly Jam albums and 2 Platypus albums. Also helped the Bissonette brothers on The Jughead album.

Warning, this music is not like Swervedriver at all! Except for the Beatles influence. For me, Kings X is the most underrated band ever.I'm ok with it though. Being over popular has been venom for many bands. In this case the members of Kings X have been able to expand their catolog under the radar and still maintain a loyal following. Kind of what Adam is doing now.

ABACAB? One of my older brothers is the king of prog rock. He made me listen to tons of Genesis, Yes,King Crimson,(and the list goes on and on). I kept trying to tell him that I wanted to be cool but he wouldn't listen. So if anyone here likes prog, drop me line. Chances are that I have heard it or know about it.

Am I having Deja Vu interloper? We've talked about this before I think.
My favortie from Genesis is "Behind The Lines" off Duke.

Yeah, I always liked King's X. Saw them way back in the late 80's. I always thought they got unfairly put in with hair metal which was way off the mark. They were so much better than that.

I was a big fan of all things genesis back in the early 80's. Come on, who didn't love the video for "Illegal Alien"? Perhaps we'll have to write it off as a guilty pleasure...

I'm tempted to pick "Turn it on Again", but alas that would be trickery since my song of the day is:

Air suply only had one gay song..... really?

As for Genesis, I think I have Duke somewhere, I used to kinda like them back in the 80's, but in college I had this housemate who was obsessed with them. Unfortunately he was completely crazy and we eventually had to ask him to leave, so he kind of ruined Genesis for me. I can't hear any Genesis or Phil Collins without being reminded of that dude. Also, at my first teaching job at a school for autistic children, there was one kid who would trade in at the end of each hour to hear either "Land of Confussion," or "In the Air Tonight." Hearing either of those songs between 8 and 10 times a day for a whole year would drive anyone crazy. Thank god he didn't like Swervedriver! So I guess you could say I have a deep rooted aversion for all things Genesis / Phil Collins. Oh well, what can you do?

My song of the day:

"Sister Ray" - Velvet Underground. Just woke up with the lyrics in my head, had to listen to it on the way to work.

Consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.
