I've been browsing the old threads here and I see that someone managed to find a copy of the Shake Appeal single on Ebay a while back. Well done, there were not many of those around in the first place and I'm sure that only a few will have survived this far...Anyway, in true Mission Impossible style, your next mission should you choose to accept it is to find a copy of The Jericho Collection which was a compilation album of Oxford bands that included a Shake Appeal track. It was released in 1988 on Jericho Records, catalogue number JER001. Oh, one last thing- it has to be the limited edition version that had a free 7 inch single that had an extra Shake Appeal track on it...

Adi that is indeed a hard mission. Just a quick search of the gemm site and I can only find a Jericho vinyl compilation from 85. I'm gonna put this on the list and keep a keen eye out for it. BTW I was the one lucky enough to snag the single from ebay. Interloper from the forums here was kind enough to transfer it to CD and I sent most of the regular posters a copy for "swervemas". I'd be happy to send you a cd copy of it if ya don't have one. Just shoot me your addresss or po box.

Hey Adi - maybe you could make this impossible mission a bit more possible...
- did you save a copy for yourself?

"Hey Adi - maybe you could make this impossible mission a bit more possible...- did you save a copy for yourself?"

I do have two copies of this album, neither of which seems to have the free single, infact one very ominously has the slip cover for the single but no actual single. I'm not very good at keeping the memorabilia safe am I? The tour diary disc is corrupted, one of the live videos was accidently taped over and now the free Shake Appeal singles are missing...

Word Adi. At least you still have a copy of the main compilation album. I've searched for several hours to the nether regions of the internet with no luck. I've got a few vintage vinyl shops around the US keeping any eye out for me so maybe they'll stumble across something. I don't really know of any shops abroad that will take requests like these do but if anyone knows of any hook it up!
Its been what 15-16 years since the shake appeal stuff (don't worry I'm stoning myself for creating a timeline), shit I've lost master tapes that were done 3-4 years ago that will never be recovered. Just goes to show that there are indeed drawbacks to inhailation.

Hi...newbie here
I had the Jericho Collection once upon a time (can't remember having the 7") but it got lost (nicked) somewhere in the mists of time. Lived/worked in Oxford in the late 80's - in one of the record shops (steve from Ride worked in the sister shop down the road). Do still have the Shake Appeal 7" tho'. Remember seeing them support The Mission at an Oxford all day charity gig at the Polytechnic - SA were the highlight that day.....happy days.

I have the single that someone was ciculating with Gimme Fever and Mexico City S.O.S on it but this has two that I've never heard before: Rollercoaster and Amphetamine. Truly the holy grail of Swerve-rarities.

Hi Chris. Thought i had it... Was the higest bidder until about 2 hours before the end. Nipped out for a cheeky lunchtime pint, and came back gutted. Was goign to share it with the forum, but was keeping it a surprise. Gutted.

Still, I managed to get my grubby hands on this a week ago, which will be pride of place in my music room. Roscoe.

Cheers burning wheel. In related news I received an inquiry today about Shake Appeal from the British Library.

I'm working at the British Library on the cataloguing of recordings made by the late Michael Gerzon of Shake Appeal and could use some help in establishing line-ups and certain other information. This is part of a digitisation project for which the British Library will be contacting all the performers in the near future, and explaining what it's about. However, my role at the moment is limited to completion of cataloguing and establishing a contact list for the performers.
