Thanks for sharing!! What a great find.

I don't think Adam has the make excuses for not playing SWD stuff all the time
The tracks from BOM and toschack stand on their own and are just as good if not better than the SWD tracks.

Hey Claudio. I have no other tour information so I'd try and make that May 27th show. Regarding an audio link I thin it is ok as long as the quality is good which it sounds like it is.

Setlist in Birmingham last night:

Autodidact
For Seeking Heat
Never Lose That Feeling
Last Rites
Setting Sun
Rave Down
These Times
For A Day Like Tomorrow
MM Abduction
Lone Star
The Birds
Son of Mustang Ford
I Wonder

Encore

Everso
Duel

Sounded great last night, you could tell they've been touring for a while. Thought Mick was great and Mikey has come into his own since I saw them last. Will try and make the Oxford gig next Friday before the London show.

Anyone have any thoughts on the support acts for the UK tour? Seeing them in Oxford tonight, and there's an early curfew, which means the show starts early too. Are the support acts worth catching? I assume "Bad News" are not the CSP band :D

Would be good if it was:

Didn't see the supports in Brum so can't comment. Will hopefully get to Oxford about half 7 tonight so should catch them.

Doors open at 6, and there's a 10 o'clock curfew (so they can get the clubbers in). I suspect that by 7:30, you'll have missed Bad News.

Anyone else at the Scala show the other week?

I enjoyed it but the sound was more than a little muddy and once again (following the Lexington BOM show a few months back) I felt Adam's guitar just wasn't loud enough - is it just me or has that skinny sound guy with the dreads lost his touch?

I saw that somewhere recently too but I can't remember where. Supposedly they are going to add more dates as it's just one show right now.

This review from the recent Newcastle show. The audience mostly 'middle aged men'? Ouch. Bit ageist i'd say. To be fair, the appreciative audience was made of people that really wanted to be there and from my perspective, were loving it. Back to the Herald sports reporting Josh.

".......which resonated strongly with the audience of mostly middle-aged men."

hmmmmmm

well, that's me I spose....

Cambridge show provides Swervedriver with welcome distraction from Brexit
JOSH LEESON
1 Jul 2016, noon

THE success of the leave vote in the United Kingdom’s referendum on the European Union hit the world like a bombshell last week. English shoe gaze legends Swervedriver appeared similarly stunned by the news when they played at the Cambridge Hotel just hours after the result came through.

Frontman Adam Franklin made it clear where he and his bandmates stood on the divisive issue. “Your namesake [Newcastle] in the UK voted to stay in the EU, otherwise we would have played 40 mins of angry feedback,” Franklin said.

While we weren’t subjected to feedback torture, Swervedriver did deliver a haze of swirling psychedelic guitars and with a touch of grunge punch, which separated them from their ‘90s UK shoe gaze peers. The “shoe gaze” label never sat comfortably with the band in their heyday, but lead guitarist Jimmy Hartridge did his best impression of the scene by constantly bowing his head toward his guitar pedals. Fill-in bassist Mick Quinn from Supergrass was the most energetic member.

The show began strongly with Autodidact off last year’s comeback album I Wasn’t Born To Lose You and cuts of old favourites Never Lose That Feeling and Rave Down, which resonated strongly with the audience of mostly middle-aged men. The freezing evening coupled with the $55 cover charge for a band that never broke beyond the underground and were in their prime 20 years ago meant the Cambridge was a third full. It was a disappointing turn out for a band of quality musicians, but not surprising.

The middle of the set was bogged down in Swervedriver’s wall of guitars as they peeled off new songs For A Day Like Tomorrow and Lone Star. Franklin has never been the most charismatic singer, leaving riffs rather than melody, to drive the songs. However, Swervedriver still have some thumping tunes in their back pocket. Their classics Son Of A Mustang Ford,Last Train To Satansville and Duel breathed energy into the room. The upbeat rockers not only revived the crowd, but reinvigorated the band and for several minutes the Brexit decision was out of their minds.

“This is a good remedy for a day like today,” Franklin said.
