Comment: Found a website titled “SpiritSoarDreaming”, all about dream pop/shoegazer music. Made me wax nostalgic for early 90s, college days of playing music, listening, hiking, fun…..sniff. Now I am married and concerened with Amperages for fuseboxes and outlets. Oh well. I can still listen to music and play guitar. This will stave off the old/fat/bald/slacks elements of marriage. At least my wife isn’t fat. YEEEOOORGHH!!!! P.S. Never heard a note of ESR, been saving it since 1996, figuring it will be “new” to me when I get aroud to it, after Swervedriver has stopped recording. I also have pulled off my ballsack. Bush (the band) sucks!!!! Should I check out Slowdive?? I have been “saving” them for about 11 years now. Thanks porn stars!!!!! -JoeT.

Comment: There’s Ian!! How’s the band going? Obviously pretty well if it’s keeping you on the road. Hopefully you’ll be gigged in the same area as Adam. I hope that everyone who posts here is able to see him perform at least once. I often think of when I saw him play in Washington D.C. last summer. A dear friend of mine who’s a every bit the Swerve fan that I am recently tied the knot with his longtime girlfriend. I was his best man. At one point in the evening during the wedding we had the DJ play, “These Times”. It was a mighty fine evening. Take care all. -E

Comment: I saw BRMC live at the mercury lounge and I thought they were like the best band i had heard in a very long while, I was totally blown away. I immediately bought some promotional singles they were selling at the show. But I don’t know why I think the recorded stuff seems so weak in comparison. I was kind of dissappointed.

Comment: Hey Zach!! Yeah, I remember you man, (sorry I didn’t mention your name in my previous post). Is California treating you well? I’m sure it is. Every Cali-transplant that I know loves it out there. Yeah, Dragstrip’s going pretty well. A few labels have been showing some interest so I’ve been trying to book us as much as possible. We should finally be making the trek out west in February. I’ll let you know. Royboy, Sonic Youth was great. They opened with “Cotton Crown”, played “Shadow of Doubt”, “StarPower”, “Drunken Butterfly” and many other gems. Their new stuff sounded great too. Man, this just like old times. I need to start communicating on this thing again. Has anyone heard from Art in awhile? Seems like he’s keeping this thing up and running, but I was curious as to what’s going on with him. Anyway, good to hear from all of you. Take good care y’all… -E

Comment: Oh to have more of that sweet, sexy, franklin, croon, but alas, we are left waiting and wondering, and left at the alter. I’ll have to keep myself busy. Do any SWD fans have any internet radio station favorites that consistantly play new interesting music? I found this site that indexes internet radio sites. http://www.mikesradioworld.com and I started to check out the college public stations. A bunch of good stuff, but I have no idea what I am listening too half the time. It’s like a part-time job, very low pay.

Hairy–i got a SWD radar logo shirt (you know the one) right from www.swervie.com not too long agoo. $15 plus shipping, think it was… I also remember Sessions.com skate shop having a few shirts awhile back–the one with the pedals, and the ‘ol bullseye one too. they might still have ’em. Good luck mate. Cheers……

Comment: Hey Swerve kids, long time no talk. I’ve been trying to read the archives from the past few months to see what’s been going on with everyone. I hope you are all doing well. Me, I’m just doing the same ole thing. Rocking steady, working, trying to hit as many good shows as I possibly can, (saw Sonic Youth a few weeks back). I’m also doing to booking for the Dragstrip Syndicate these days which keeps me fully occupied, (that’s probably the main reason I don’t post as much anymore), but don’t for a minute think I’ve forgotten about Swervedriver or all of you. I want to give warm greetings to all my old school pals that still post: Art, Tuomas, Kik, Ghost, Dan’l, Sundog, Billie, Ian, Hairy, Royboy, Chizzy, (everyone else I may have forgotten to mention), and of course to all the new folks out there as well. Adam, Jez, Jimmy, and Steve, I hope you are all happy men these days. I will always be thankful for all the times I have seen the band live, and even moreso that I got to know you in person. Take good care of yourselves. I have never lost the feeling. -E

Comment: SFA show was pretty fuckin good. I’d never seen them before, and didn’t really know what to expect, but they put on a hell of show without having a lot of attitude. They just seem like regular guys, except that they’re Welsh (heh-heh…). BetaFan– A few friends o’ mine are going to the Gomez show. I can’t get off work for it but I’ve seen them 3 times so far. They also put on a good show. They’ve played kick-ass covers of the Talking Heads song “On the Road to Nowhere” and “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin'” by ….”Jacko”. have fun man!!! Cheers…….

Comment: Mike, obviously I have no way of confirming this, that is unless Jez should chime in here on the topic, but I was recently told by a band member on a Century Media band, that a tour bus alone cost $5k a DAY! to be riding around in. Now, I don’t know what the sales of 99th Dream was, but it does make me think that the label or the band wasn’t walking away w/ pockets full of cash. I really don’t know, I’m just thinking that the story I was told could have some merit to it. I also don’t wish to be misunderstood, that I’m try to talk smack about the band! I’m not, I really dig them and would love to see them play one more show. Who knows, maybe the label just made bad overall business decisions. It seems like they weren’t making tons of cash off the other bands that were on the label either. Lastly, I wondering if anyone knows the situations about 99th Dream almost coming out on Geffen and then suddenly ending up at Zero Hour! Cheers, Danno

Comment: zero hour……..what an idiotick name for a label……..they were blessed that SWD agreed to their “conditions”. why doesn’t SWD have their own stinkin’ label? cut out the middleman and do it black market style…….i’m just glad i located my lush “split” vinyl yesterday,Hail Miki!!!!!!! my goal for today is to hunt down the mezcal head and toshack cd’s.i friggin’ despise cd’s,they are the bane of my existence.horrible glitch media they are–gimme greasy, dusty vinyl or a cracked cassette tape anynight. btw—www.vapir.com has these amazing “digital air herbal smoking devices” for sale….i’m getting the black and green one soon!it’s like a reverse-engineered bong, alien smoking utensil–comes with a backpack and lithium-ion battery and tools.that’ll come in handy when i’m walking my german shepherd at 4 am in the park blasting ESR on my walkman staring up at the constellations with my shades on methinx…….i think im gonna record some phased out guitar noise later today and force my fiance to play bass on top of it when she gets home…then we can rewind it and make out and stuff–if i get lucky i may end out tied up with a SWD shirt and a superhero-anime lookin chick on top of me….wish me luck!!!!!!!

Comment: So I sat here at work, with nothing really to do yesterday, and read the 3 parts of Jez’s book that are here to read. I found it very entertaining and funny at some points. It is cool to read about that world, that we as HUGE music fans may never experience, but yet we wonder about! The last segment about Dallas the bus driver was great! If only Jez could get a publisher! I’m thinking that many would read this book, and perhaps bring some much needed attention to the band, even if it is after that fact(although I hope that isn’t the case). Anyway, I spoke to someone the other day, who says that he was a touring sound engineer for the SWD/Hum tour that happened here in the states. This may not be new info, and I don’t mean this as a knock to SWD, but he said that it was SWD that caused Zero Hour to go under! I don’t know, maybe so, but is seems that it would have to have been a bit more than that to cause the labels demise! What other bands on that label were a worth damn? Perhaps some of you know more than me! What so you think?

Comment: I’m coming here for about 3 years now I think and the most interesting thing is the fact that the first addicted are almost all gone. As if they were tired of hoping for something that “could” happen with a low probability (let’s just hope not) now. And in the end, that’s always the same in here at every change in the visitors, restart the same cycle. I’m not complaining, ’cause I like the band enough to read everything with the envy of a beginner but I’m not sure some are not tired. Not any mails from the mailing-list neither, as I said, the old fanbase is at a kind of dead point. The only thing to do is to put Raise in your tape player or CD player or disc player and listen to it for a lot of years until the end.

Comment: St Helens Dave – I was just trying to get a rise (Raise?) out of Art – but, sad to say it, but it appears to be late in the game concerning SWD’s career. They’re not giving Art too much to work with. The interest that drove the aforementioned to put together this site, the comps, etc. has waned. I’ve been posting/reading here for about a year now, and even the level of activity between then and now is… subdued. Not so much past tense “we loved SWD!”, as it is “are they gonna put more music out or no?”. Some people feel that a band is somehow obligated to dole out the “same old, same old”, just cuz it made them feel good. If they aren’t gonna put out, they want to take their attention and move on. A band is *not* at the beck and call of their fan base – even tho one might think so after buying the poster and the t-shirt and the lapel pin and all the bootlegs. That attitude is largely due to the uprising of the music industry in the last century. An artist (or a band of artists) has but one commitment – to bring to life what it is that makes them tick. Considering the trouble SWD has had with labels in the past, danny boy’s “straight to internet” idea is a very good one. Anyway, sorry for the rant… the mystery surrounding SWD’s return continues… it would be too cool to see SWD/Toshack be part of establishing the 21st century way of doing music business… space travel rock n roll, and all…

Comment: Ok, quick question for the board. I ordered a second hand copy of ESR off of amazon after AGES of looking for it. Anyways, it turns out this is a promo copy (at least thats what it says) and the last 3 tracks aren’t named. So I was wondering if anyone out there also has this copy and could tell me. Track 11 is a short instumental, track 12 is just a minute of silence (seriously!) and track 13 is a proper song. Oh yeah, and since i’m here 2 more q’s: 1. is there ever gonna be more swervie stuff? 2. Is jez’s book ever gonna get published? Thanx in advance.

Comment: Effin’ right we want them back. Hey guys if you’re readin’ –how ’bout this?–Come back to ..let’s say, NYC..and do a string of gigs. They can be your only gigs on the continent. Check out how many people come from surrounding areas. For example, I like many before me will not think twice about heading up the highway to NYC. As a matter of fact, if Swervedriver eventually go on tour, I want to do the Grateful Dead thing and hook up on the whole east coast and meet the whole lot of you (the fans) cause you are the coolest bunch of fucking people that are breathing today. Hey Jez…sell print your book, sell a shitload, save the dough, go on tour and charge us eager bastards 40$ a pop, and make a dream come alive. I must hear Duress live at least one more time before I die. Whaddaya think?

Comment: O.K. this is it…when the hell are these guys going to go out on tour again. They must!!! There’s no question. Considering their problems with record companies, why can’t they put out a low budget cd of new stuff and sell it via internet. Jesus Christ..technology permits this kind of thing. Besides, that would sure beat having to go into a studio to produce one of the finest albums ever recorded (Mezcal Head), spend a shitload of cash that they’ll never make back and later write books about their misfortune. I think they underestimate their fanbase. Anyway, if they dont come around soon, I’m gunna be forced to get a tribute band together and bring the music out to the people. But I dont want to do that. (And I dont think a song like Duress could ever be played by anyone but themselves. Peace

Comment: I have a boot of a Swervedriver Peel Session. Did that ever get a legitimate release? It has a song called “Over” which is not on any studio recording. The other songs are Out, Volcano Trash, and Zedhead. “Over” also pops up in an early live boot, circa 1990, but disappears after that. Who sings the vocals anyway? At least the fist part is someone else, then Adam takes over in the chorus.

Comment: Maybe the thing to do is hook up with all the old school Swerve nuts out there… the folks who put the “Passenger is Wired” and “Serene/Surreal” CDs out. Maybe use the same methods for putting a quality video comp together. I know I’d lay out good cash for it. Been wondering where RudAwakning, Art, Ajay, etc. have been. Understandable if they lost interest… but does this site run on autopilot, or what? I’m a lurker on Ajay’s Swerve list… for the last year, pretty much the same names pop up. I remember Rud asking about recording with computer equipment, and that’s about it. Say la v…

Comment: est-Good to see you back. Yeah, it was a cool show, I mean, its the Doves. You’re right though, the other one was better. Mainly because the acoustics at the Warehouse completely suck, but mostly because it was basically the same show. That’s a silly thing to say, I know, but even the encore was the same. Just hoped for a little variation. I dare to compare, but when Swervie doubled through here in 98, they broke it up large. Yet, one of the many countless reasons why they rock. Cheers!

Comment: I already did pull my balls off Ricky! Man, I hate to think of a screwed up world of ours without the music of Swervedriver to help with just getting thru everyday life anyway. God heel US! .I remember sharing a smoke with the boys before their first ever gig at First Avenue main roon in Mpls. I asked them if they had ever heard of Red Lorry Yellow Lorry ( my fav band before Swervedriver came along). They said they never heard of the Lorries. I was shocked as I was convinced they were influenced by the Lorries (my own foolishness as work as usual). Anyway, I saw Swervedriver at 7th Street entry (I think their second ever gig in Mpls or maybee even their first; their 1st ever Mpls gig could have been at the Uptown Bar??? ) and what a gig that was. It is still in my top 3 for my best gigs I have ever been to. Their music blew my mind beyond the limits of my musical introspective observation!!!
