I have showed Swervedriver to 4 People in high school….the response i got was “eeehhh they are a bit fuzzed out and too mellow for me” which doesnt suprise me because at the time they where all listening to Slipknot. When I moved to college I showed it to another 2 people, one liked marilyn manson and the other liked Oasis and the Stone Roses. I was hoping for a better response but all I got from them was “they are a bit tame for me” and that was after they listened to the majority of the Mezcalhead album! When I got to University, I introduced it to a few more people. One is a metal head and he didnt like them, one is a punk rocker and he didnt like them, and one was a indie-rocker and he likes them but he says he wants to hear more stuff before he can pass judgement. I usually let people listen to Duel, Harry and Maggie, Son of Mustang Ford or The Other Jesus. My girlfriend thinks they are alright, but she doesnt listen to them or shows much enthusiasm for them either. My Father thinks the same as my girlfriend but he absolutley loves Scrawl and Scream. and my dad is an old-school rock n roller. Anyway I guess I will have to let my University Mate borrow some Swervedriver albums. Its nice to hear you lot have good stories to tell. “at least you’ll always have a good tale to tell” Cya all later!

Arthur’s charisma can fill an entire hall. He said he has a new album coming out, I can’t wait.

That new My Bloody Valentine record is never coming out. Seattle’s Voyager One, however, should cure any itch to play air-bass into some speakers, scavenge for melodies under a wall of guitars or, especially, gaze at one’s shoes. Sure, it sounds a little like MBV (c’mon, the band is on Loveless Records fer chrissakes!), but Voyager One makes the dream-pop sound its own with orchestral tweaks and a much, much gentler touch. “Wires” rides the same Neu!-ish pulse that drove Radiohead’s “National Anthem” – burying a restless melody under a wash of ambience until reaching back into its bag of tricks (a.k.a. “pedals”) and pulling out a bone-chilling lightning bolt of Spacemen 3-esque intergalactic noise. The trance-inducing “Snow Angel Summer” is pure space-out space-rock and “Ready.Reset.” is lushly Lush. The reason I bring this up, is the new song being played on the radio by Zwan, Billy Corgan’s new band, entitled “Honestly”. The funny thing is, if you listen to it, the best way to describe it is, imagine if the Smashing Pumpkins wanted to be Swervedriver. I guess in terms of radio airplay, Swervedriver was too far ahead of the curve, but we always knew that. I hope all of you going to the party have a great time.
