i have had a word with a few friends regarding my earlier post about the sanctuary profit warning and whether the curse of swervedriver’s labels would continue. i am told that sanctuary should be OK for the short term, despite the fact that they are spending so much money buying everything they can. axl rose was their most recent big money signing, on the publishing front i think. as long as they can wait a few decades they may just even get their money back on that one.
it appears that the owners are looking to sell it, hence all the big name signings. the view is that the company would not be able to continue like this long term.
usual caveats apply, but i think (hope) the swervedriver release will be fine. just a few weeks to go!
