Downloading and listening to those live versions of each song on each album (in the U.S. we often say ‘album’ if we’re over thirty) was nothing less than “breathtaking.”
I think studio SWD sounds absolutely great (unlike some great bands, bands apparently on short leashes), and I was almost content NOT owning any SWD live, but lemme tell you, hearing those live songs made me feel like I was hearing SWD again for the very first time.
I saw SWD live at St. Andrew’s in Detroit (1998) and it was one of the few times in my life I was blown away. The vibes were there, man, seriously. It was nothing less than “spiritual.”
