the show in dc was epic. mikey brought a whole new level of energy on the drums. i hope they continue to play out in this configuration.

can you destroy the town pump videos? i will pay you $$$!

hey – it was my first night with them…after flying in from dc, only knew a few of the songs…no practice time, limited sound check…just up on stage and wing it.

    what a fucking nightmare!

anyway – two nights later in seattle went quite well. we actually had an off day to practice after the town pump show…and i wound up playing with them for about year. so all’s well. but that first night still gives me nightmares. oh…did i mention that the monitor was pointed right at me and nearly deafened me? that the sectional drum riser came apart in the middle of the set with my throne drifting away from the kick drum? did i mention that…oh well. you get the picture.

    my own personal review:

the set was stunning. i’ve seen him play so many times i can’t remember…and he never fails to deliver a jaw-dropping set. but the b-o-m show at the state theater managed to stand out as something quite special. you’d think they had been playing together for years – such was the interplay. but the bassist was from the church and an emergency fill in (i can relate to that). the drummer was recruited at the outset of the tour. despite the somewhat cobbled together nature – the songs were mesmerizing. adam was, as always, sonic gold. lee is the perfect compliment…but is also a creative talent in his own right. if you have a chance to see them live, you won’t be disappointed. adam has found a real groove with these last two albums. it’s like a sonic coctail – small bits of nick drake, burt bacharach and other tasty melodic influences…but 99% percent adam. and that’s a pretty fucking good recipe.

Hmmmm. Top dollar eh? I have a few…some never worn. I might be willing to part with a never lose (long sleeve) or perhaps a kill the superheroes short sleve. I also might have an extra of the effects pedals shirts (I have a green, grey, purple and white…but will only part with one if I find a double). Let me know if any of these peak your interest and what you consider a reasonble price. If you don’t want to do this over the forum you can contact me directly by e-mail.
