“What can I do to get you to spill more Adi?”

Oh, I don’t know…give me time and stimulate my memory gland I suppose. By the way, I found the disc with the US tour diary on it but my computer cannot read the disc for some reason. I have dropped it round to some chaps I know and they are going to see if they can pull the text off it. On a brighter note, I have dragged from the attic two videos of the band live in 1991, the first is from the Simplon Club in Gronigen, Holland and is a two camera shoot with mixing desk sound. The second is camcorder footage that our manager did of shows we did opening for The Wonder Stuff (one of which is outdoors). My old flatmate taped Neighbours over the first 30 mins though so most of the outdoor stuff is missing….shame really but thats friends for you!

“please explain the EXTREME PAID FOR IT thingy.”

We were signed to the same label as Extreme in the USA (A&M)and that song was a big hit at the time and they probably made a few bob for the label that we were then able to spend!

Blimey, questions questions….I’ll answer them in order of appearance!

Rocket- Yes I still play bit only around the house, after the Skyscraper thing fell apart I did not have the motivation to form another band and I still don’t. But if being nearly forty, balding and slightly overweight comes round to being hip again then who knows. But I seriously doubt it. Also, yes I do have video of the early line up, at least 2 and a half gigs spring to mind immediately but I have not watched them for years so cannot recall what the quality is like. Do you have footage of the band from the Raise era? I would be up for a trade if so.

Interloper- I have audio stuff too. Everything from live gigs to studio rarities. Don’t know how the other chaps would feel about stuff becoming public though but I do think some of it deserves it.

    Brad-
10 Best Swervedriver Moments- Let me get Christmas dealt with and I will have a think. I’ll post a new thread as it will not be Skyscraper related anymore.
10 Worst Swervedriver Moments- Well, this forum seems to be a pleasant place frequented by some nice people so I’ll politely decline this one. No need to foul the atmosphere…
Recording Raise details- I’ll see what I can do. There is a lot to tell.
First tour memories- Watch your email, I’ll send you something about the first US tour that I wrote the week we got back from it. Its too long to post here.
How we were treated by the record industry- I suppose I should get that off my chest at some point so maybe. Its a long convoluted story full of imcompetance so may get me into trouble if I name names…it would serve as an excellent cautionary tale though.

Jeronimo- Which gig did you see?

Good afternoon everyone and to jamesg- Merry Christmas to you too. Still in Germany but safe and warm in a Marriot hotel this time. There is some Skyscraper stuff available for download here and there, one chap put a few tracks fom the first album up on his Hidden Gems page (a site dedicated to great lost and/or ignored albums). Try http://www.imbalance.clara.co.uk/gems/superstate.html and Amazon still have the second album up for sale, although I do have to admit that although this album contains loads of great ideas- it not as accessable (i.e. as good) as the first one. Regarding Swervedriver…I got an attic full of stuff, what do you all want to hear? I am sorry to report that I have lost the video of the final Shake Appeal gig though. Shame really, we had nice beards….

    “Where is Adi now?”

I’m in an internet cafe in Germany. Its raining and cold outside. I don’t recall Skyscraper ever trying to sound like STP…I was more interested in sounding like a cross between Killing Joke, Gang of Four and Sonic Youth if I have to put a mark on it. Not sure how successful we were in that respect but still damn proud of what we did. I have thought of maybe making some Skyscraper stuff available mail order but haven’t got round to doing anything about it, maybe Robin should do that though….Skyscraper still probably owe him money. Mail him and ask if he’s still got the masters if you are really keen
