That is correct. They are part of the Michael Gurzon Collection at the British Library, you would have to visit the library to be able to listen to them, as only a small part of the British Library’s archive is available to listen online unfortunately.

Shake Appeal drummer Paddy Pulzer also dragged these out from his archives-

And there is more from Johnny Moto Photography. These are rough scans of the negatives, proper prints are to follow-

I seem to recall that it was Son Of Mustang Ford, Afterglow and Volcano Trash. Definitely the first two, I’d have to check my copy (wherever it is) to be sure of the third one though.

This was recorded during the ‘Raise’ sessions but not used in the end. There is also a studio session that we did just after signing to Creation that resulted in recordings of ‘Juggernaut Rides’ ‘Kill The Superheroes’ ‘Volcano Trash’ and ‘Son Of Mustang Ford’. This version of ‘Mustang’ ended up on the Creation compilation ‘American Pensioners On Ecstacy’ but the others have not, to my knowledge, ever been released. ‘Mustang’ was also re-recorded for ‘Raise’ with the outro included, however this version didn’t have as good a vibe as the single version so that was used on the album instead.

Very thorough. Congratulations and thank you. A couple of corrections though- of the tracks first recorded with Alan Moulder, only ‘Hands’ was a ‘Raise’ out-take. ‘Scrawl & Scream’ is a reworking of the earlier song ‘Afterglow’ and ‘Never Lose That Feeling’ itself was a brand new song. Also the 1992 US tour was not a joint tour with Ride, this is incorrect. The tour was Swervedriver’s first headlining tour of the USA, with Poster Children as openers.

There is also an earlier Radio 1 session then the one mentioned in November 1991. The band recorded four tracks for the John Peel show on 31st July 1990- ‘Volcano Trash’ ‘Zedhead’ ‘Over’ and ‘Out’.

Yes, that’s the one. That isn’t the original scratchplate though, its a custom metal one that I made way back in the day.

Its actually a Silverburst that for some reason, as it has faded, has taken on a strange green hue. Bogeyburst we used to call it.

Yes, I do. Its not a real Rickenbacker either, its a Japanese copy. Pretty good one though, made by the same manufacturers as the old Ibanez guitars. Its not a fully faithful reproduction though as it comes with a copy of a Gibson EB pickup in the neck position which kicks out some serious bottom end. It was given to me by a friend who was the bassist with another Oxford band, Play Dead. In fact it is the one used in this TV appearance- http://youtu.be/mWKv_O0vzQ4
