“To celebrate 25 years since the release of Swervedriver’s classic second album Mezcal Head, the band will be performing the record live for the first time throughout Europe and the UK in May 2018. But more than that, the band – comprising Adam Franklin, Jimmy Hartridge, Mikey Jones and Ben Ellis from Iggy Pop’s band (standing in for the on-sabbatical Mick Quinn) – will also be performing the band’s first album, the seminal Raise. The show will comprise of two sets with psychedelic interlude.

Swervedriver’s sixth album Remembering Forward is set to be released later in 2018.”

In 2013, Swervedriver performed their debut album, Raise, in its entirety in Australia and the UK and then went on to record the band’s highly acclaimed fifth album, I Wasn’t Born To Lose You, released in March 2015. This September, Adam Franklin, Jimmy Hartridge, Mikey Jones and Mick Quinn will be reprising the performance of Raise shows – for the first time in the USA – but with one large difference: they will also be performing their much loved second album, Mezcal Head, from front-to-back. The show will comprise of two sets.  A new (sixth) album has been penciled in for a 2018 release – stay tuned for more details.

“We are very sorry to say that our show in Paris on Saturday – which we really wanted to play in defiance of the deluded, murdering shitheads – has been postponed. Alias, Fleche d’Or and Bataclan are the same team and crew and everybody there is in great shock and distress, as well as the Parisienne audiences and people deeply impacted and so in order to allow our brothers and sisters in the French capital time to rest and grieve and heal, we have spoken with the promoter and decided that we shall reschedule for the earliest possible date. Peace X”

“Nineties UK shoegaze legends SWERVEDRIVER return to NZ with old friends FUR PATROL

FUR PATROL will open this doubleheader whilst celebrating their 20th anniversary.

SWERVEDRIVER inhabit a funny spot within the pantheon of classic shoegazer bands. They were always out of step with their 90s Creation-era peers, most of whom appeared content to disappear behind a veil of tastefully shimmering feedback and lyrical obtuseness. Swervedriver, on the other hand, were interested in ripping. Their guitars may have fed back through the requisite number of effects pedals, and classic Swervedriver t-shirts actually featured a connected bank of effects pedals rather than the bandmembers, but rather than shrink into the feedback, Swervedriver married their guitar haze with nods to poppy psychedelia, American film noir, and songs about fast cars

FUR PATROL remain Julia Deans vocals and guitar , Andrew Bain on bass, and Simon Braxton on drums Its been 20 years since Julia got them together to work on some demo material. ANd within 4 years they had a classic NZ number one with Lydia. ANDREW BAIN: “It’s been a few years, I hope Simon can remember how to count to 4, although some of our songs do go up to 600 so this could get interesting fast.”
